Avalanche Awareness Days in conjuntion with the “Spirit of the Mountains Festival”
Proposed Nights Line Up:
There will be three presenters from the Smithers/Terrace area covering a variety of topics along with a couple of videos. The presenters have a diverse background including avalanche professionals,skiers, snowmobilers, avalanche educators and certified avalanche rescue dog handler.
Topics covered will include:
- The snowpack to date, including a review of some close calls this year and what it all means for the rest of the season.
- What are the riding areas near Terrace?
- What to do after an avalanche has occurred and you have dug your buddy out?
-,What should you watch for when you are out riding? The obvious clues.
- OK the avalanche bulletin is "considerable", how do I choose a place to ski or ride?

Admission is by donation so please bring a few bucks. All donations will go towards rental for the room and food/lodging for our out of town speakers.
