Trail Maintenance

The Dome trail needs maintenance, there are some trees hanging down and will get in the way of the groomer. If anyone has time to help, please don't hesitate to get out there and clear some room. This goes for all the other trails as well.

Caribou

A presentation was made by Karen, Conrad and Laura regarding the Telkwa Caribou and the proposed WHA. The federal government have listed Caribou as threatened and has forced the provincial government into researching and protecting them. The federal govenrment will step in if the BC government isn't able to effectively manage them.

15 Caribou were counted in the Telkwa Range, 20% of them calves. 8 cows, 4 bulls, 3 calves. Only high elevation caribou were counted as it's difficult to count the lower ones which ten to be under tree cover.

If your going up into caribou territory, please use a tracking gps so that the researches are aware of where we like to go. You can get one of these gps trackers at Evergreen Ind.
