Parker Place (Onion Main) has been torn down. Unfortunately this needed to happen due as the shelter was run down and had been overtaken by rats.

Insurance has required us to update the stoves in some of our shelters. Thank you to Aaron and Lee for installing a new stove and getting some firewood up to the Burdette shelter on the Onion. Thank you to Jason, Wade and Dustin for installing the new stove and getting firewood to the Dome. Thank you to Kyle, Clyde and Don for installing the new stove and bringing up firewood to the Microwave. And finally thanks to Russ and Don for doing some trail cutting up Sinclair.

Shelter Directors for this season are: Harold Price-Tyler, Microwave-Curtis, Sinclair-Russ, Dome-Jason and Wade.

Both groomers are very close to being ready to go. We just need to install some lights that were stolen this summer. A couple of the lights cost $1,700 PER LIGHT to replace. Once these lights are replaced and the road has frozen we will send the groomers out.

This year we are raffling off a Can-Am Outlander 450 with a plow and winch. Ticket sales has been going well so far but we still need more volunteers. We sent out an email to the membership and only got one response. If we don't start getting more volunteers we may have to cancel the raffle which would be dissapointing as it's a large revenue generator.

Right now we are bringing the unit to the liquor store on Fridays at approximately 3-7pm. And bringing it to Canadian Tire on Saturdays from 10-2pm.

Unfortunately we spent more last year than we brought in. Our membership numbers were down despite all the snow and our grading expenses were very high. We spent approximately $9,000 to keep the road open. Because we had so much snow, volunteers were unable to keep the road open so we had to hire a grader throughout the season. We also did a large trail maintenance job up Sinclair.

Avalanche Course

Have you or anyone you know been in an avalanche or seen one? If this ever happens it could save your life to be prepared. There is an AST course by Sean Fraser at Hyland Backcountry that is scheduled for December 8th and 9th. They have a website and a Facebook page so check them out.
